"The most important lesson from my teaching internship is the value behind classroom management and being the authoritative teacher. If there is little classroom organization, the lesson plan holds no value and the class crumbles apart. The authoritative teacher needs to convey their expectations to have a classroom of respect and rapport to promote safe learning and growth. Creative Movement is viewed as a safe space for individual and creative expression, but does this mean that students should lose their behavioral knowledge for free expression? Oftentimes, children walk through the door and immediately begin to move their bodies to release the energy built up during their day; my goal is to teach students how to harness and release their energy in a productive and appropriate way..."

"Although this management plan is structured by my expectations, I will continue to prioritize the learning environment around the student partaking in their learning experience. They are in charge of being positive buddies (as stated on the cooling corner worksheet), active classroom members, following the rules, and creating a fun learning experience. Students who misbehave will be in charge of picking their consequences, while students who behave will receive spotlight rewards. Positive behavior can result in performing in front of the class, pressing play for the music, playing the drum during activities, receiving rewards from homeroom teachers, and more. Treating the students like young adults will encourage self-management.

I aim to teach my class what proper behavior is, how to take responsibility for personal actions (good and bad), how to respectfully collaborate with peers and how to learn from their teachers. My dance class will foster a learning environment of creativity, high-energy, participation and collaboration."
